Dirk
In 2002, this Frisian guy graduated as a composer/producer from the North-Netherlands Conservatoire in Groningen.
After years of composing and producing for others behind the scenes, he stepped forward as a singer and pianist in 2012. Together with Don, he founded the Poppers.
Hij houdt erg van het zingen van chansons en luisterliedjes. Van Afrikaans tot Zweeds, hij zingt zijn talen. De backing tracks maakt hij bijna allemaal zelf, maar hij begeleidt zichzelf eveneens op de piano. En als hij de kans krijgt laat hij zich vergezellen door wel 32 achtergrond-stemmen, het Durker Mannenkoor. Hoe leuk kan narcisme zijn!
Dirk also worked intensively with Niki Today on four series of talk shows, and he even made a real LP with her, which was released on bright pink vinyl! He was also at the foundation of IDAHOTIQZ, is a driving force behind Amsterdam Bear Pride and is active in the fetish scene of Amsterdam and far beyond.
Dirk is happily married to Stephan.
Don
Don started his singing career in 2006 with the musical company Parbleu!, played in A Chorus Line and Airport, and developed shows for the catering industry on the Zeedijk.
In 2013 he founded De Poppers with Dirk, with whom he worked at theatre restaurant Casablanca. They performed at various venues and festivals, produced the Floating Theatre during the Pride boat parade, and can be seen at the transvestite cabaret shows of Coco Coquette, now Symfonica in Casa Rosso.
Don is a host, presenter and singer for Pride events and has been a permanent host at Darklands Antwerp since 2015. He is a rainbow activist, open about kink, works in trans care and has a psychotherapy practice focused on the LGBTQI+ and fetish community. He also supports pride and fetish events financially and in terms of content and is a board member of Stichting IDAHOTIQZ.
